Bill S.J.R. 345
This joint Senate resolution requests the Department of Labor and Industry, with assistance of the Board for Contractors within the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, to study the misclassification of employees as independent contractors. The study would require the Department to do the following:
(1) review the status of employee misclassification in the state,
(2) review the consequences of misclassification to the workforce,
(3) determine the amount of lost revenue to the state and local governments, and
(4) recommend strategies for alleviating misclassification or improper classification of employees.
